After the Micro/Mini Car World Meet 2021 that was held at the Gilmore Car Museum in June of 2021, a number of people have been asking if we were going to do a Meet in 2022. After finalizing all the details from the 2021 World Meet, it’s time to tell you what we are thinking about for 2022.
First, working with the Board of the Micro/Mini Car Club, we felt a World Meet should be something special that does not happen every year. We also noted that there are a number of Micro/Mini Car events that are held almost every year in the four corners of the US (Microcar South, SW Unique Little Car Show, Gould’s East Coast Microcar and Minicar Classic, the Pacific Northwest Micro Meet and in Canada MicroNorth) But there was a big hole in the middle of the country in terms of a Microcar show.
So our idea was to have a “Meet in the Middle” of the country. To avoid the “been there, done that” response, we have decided to move it around the Midwest every year and maybe after five years have it return to the Gilmore Car Museum, which you have to admit is a great venue for a Micro/Mini Car Sow. So living in the Chicago area, and not having all that much time to organize the first “Meet in the Middle”, we decided that the first “Meet in the Middle” it will be held in the Chicago area. It is our hope and plan that subsequent years that we can hold the “Meet in the Middle” in various locations around the Midwest. This might include Indianapolis, IN, Columbus, OH, Madison, WI, St. Louis, MO etc. If you would like the Meet in the Middle to come to your city just let us know and we can discuss how we can make it happen.
The First Meet in the Middle is going to be held August 13-14, 2022. On Saturday, August 13 we are meeting at the Klairmont Kollection. The Klairmont Kollection is one of the largest private car collections in the country with over 350 cars including a number of Microcars and exotic prototypes. You can check out the collection at www.KlairmontKollections.com.
On Sunday, August 14th the Meet will have our car show at the Hagerty Garage + Social. This is part of the Collector Car Garage facility so there is room for over 300 cars in the parking lot and a place to give rides in our Micro and Mini car which has become the featured event of our microcar events.

About Klairmont Kollections
Larry Klairmont and his partner Joyce were the proud ambassadors of this magnificent showplace consisting of over 300 of the most stunning, impressive, and clever vehicles any car enthusiast could hope to see during their lifetime. Under one roof, encompassing 100,000 square feet on two floors, Larry and Joyce were able to amass hundreds of outstanding classics; ranging that range from some of the earliest automobile from 100 years ago including a 1918 Pierce Arrow appearing in silver and gold, like something straight out of a fairy tale. The collection features the early years of American classics from the 1920s and 1930s, like an iconic Duesenberg and other elegant Packards & Cadillacs, plus makes that faded from our memory, like a 1937 Desoto Airflow and its sister Airflow by Chrysler. There are many examples of post WWII that put returning military veterans into new cars into the 1950s. This includes many unique and familiar Micro & Mini Cars on the 2nd floor. You will be surprised by the diversity of foreign makes from the 1960s. The ’54 Corvette Car Show Dream Car that morphed into the Chevrolet Nomad that could have been is a beauty to behold. Larry Klairmont also had a soft spot for Hot Rods and extreme Customs. Visitors will have a difficult time choosing their favorite car. the self-guided tours could take 2 ½ to 3 hours to enjoy everything the collection has to offer.

About Hagerty Garage + Social
Collectors Car Garage was a joint venture between Bob Machinist who had built a car storage garage in Westchester County, New York for city and suburban dwellers who did not have appropriate space to store their collector cars. That concept was shared with long time Chicago area collector, Burt Richmond. As fate would have it, Bob & Burt met at a gas station in Italy as they were both on Rally in Tuscany. Based on this chance meeting and sitting at the same dinner table later that evening, they shared automobile stories. When Bob mentioned his Collectors Car Garage, Burt’ eyes lit up and he mentioned that he was searching for space to build a ‘Garage Mahal’ in Chicago. They agree to join forces and in 2015 opened Collectors Car Garage, which has the capacity to store and service approximately 300 cars. In 2019, Hagerty Garage + Social and Burt Richmond's Collectors' Car Garage formed a partnership, rebranded as Hagerty Garage + Social. What was born as a car lover's home away from home just keeps getting better, hosting car events for city dwellers.
We hope you will enjoy the August 13 & 14 Meet in the Middle Micro & Mini Car weekend.
